Christmas party magician FAQs

Questions

What does a Christmas party magician actually do?

Most of our bookings are close-up magic. The magician moves between groups at the drinks and between tables at dinner, doing tricks right in front of guests, often with their own rings, phones or signed cards. Some acts also do a stage or cabaret spot for the whole room.

How much does it cost?

A close-up magician for a Christmas party typically costs £350 to £700 for two to three hours. Stage shows are quoted individually. Our price guide explains what affects the price.

How long should we book for?

Two to three hours suits most Christmas parties. That covers arrival drinks and a meal. For very big events, think about a longer booking or a second magician.

When should we book?

As soon as your date is fixed. December Fridays and Saturdays book up first. Weekday and early December parties are easier to fill.

Does the magician need any space or equipment?

Not for close-up magic. They just need to be able to move round the room. Stage shows need a performing area, sound and lighting, which we'll go through with you.

Will it work in a noisy venue?

Yes. Close-up magic happens in small groups, right in front of people, so it works fine with music in the background.

Will anyone be embarrassed?

No. Our magicians are experienced at reading a crowd and only involve people who are happy to take part.

Can the magician work around speeches or awards?

Yes. Send us your running order and they'll plan their sets around it, stepping back for the important moments.

Are your magicians members of The Magic Circle?

Several are, including Lewis Joss, Jamie Docherty, Andy the Magician and Ed the Magician. Each act's page lists their own memberships and awards.

Do you cover my area?

We book magicians across the UK. Some are based in particular regions, such as Devon, the Cotswolds or the North West, and many travel nationwide.

Can we book a magician for a virtual Christmas party?

Yes. Ricky the Magician does interactive virtual magic shows, which work well for teams spread across different locations.

Is magic suitable for children?

Yes. Many of our magicians perform for mixed ages. See our family Christmas party page for more.

Do you book for New Year's Eve?

We do, but it's the busiest night of the year, so enquire early. Our New Year's Eve page has more detail.

What happens after I send an enquiry?

We'll check availability for your date and come back with suitable acts and prices. Once you're happy, we'll confirm the booking in writing.
