Matthew the Magician at your Christmas party
The Magic Circle's Close-Up Magician of the Year is the top prize for close-up magic in the UK, and Matthew has won it. That's the level of skill you're getting at your Christmas table.
His favourite setup is a popular one for Christmas dinners. Mix and mingle magic while people arrive and have a drink, then table magic in the gaps between courses. Those gaps can drag at a big Christmas meal, especially when a kitchen is serving 200 turkey dinners at once, and Matthew fills them nicely.
He's also good at reading a room. His aim is to make sure nobody's left standing on their own, and he knows when to step back. When the MD stands up for the Christmas speech or the raffle gets drawn, he won't be halfway through a trick at table six.
His approach is to relax people first, then astound them. It works at company functions, anniversaries and special occasions. And judging by the short review below, people book him again.
